1.
All my lovers there's no one to comfort me And all my friends they have become my enemies I never thought about tomorrow Oh Lord look at me now I’m hopeless, cheap, abject All my lovers there's no one to comfort me
2.
Where is the bread, where is the wine? Where is the bread, where is the wine? You have turned your face against me Now you turn your face against my children Where are the walls that kept us safe? Where are the walls that kept us safe? They have crumbled all around us Now our enemies have taken over And all our priests said peace And all our prophets said we were all right You've done all that you said you’d do You've done all that you said you’d do And we cannot really blame you Cause we know we brought it on ourselves
3.
I’m a man whose known your wrath I’m a man whose seen your scorn It’s no secret you've turned your face from me You cause me to dwell in dark You wall me in I can’t get out You even weigh me down with heavy chains I’d tell you that it’s overwhelming but you don’t ever listen to a word I say You’re a bear lying in wait you’re a lion hiding near Gonna tear me into a million pieces You have aimed your bow towards me Gave me to my enemies All day long they sing about my troubles I’d tell you that it’s overwhelming but you don’t ever listen to a word I say I’ll never forget how you made me drink the poison up I’ll never forget how you brought me to the lowest hell I’ll never forget how you leveled me the crash on crash The one blow right after the other Guess I better check my ways
4.
Stones 03:04
How dark the golds become that once was pure The sacred stones are all poured out on the corner of every street
5.
All the joy has gone from our hearts The songs we’d sing have left our lips And we mourn for the children we have lost And we pray you’d put an end to this Unless you’ve forsaken us forever And all our prayers lie fallen before your throne never heard You never listen to what we say anymore Will we spend all of our days Paying for the sins of those who’ve gone before Should we now give up hope That one day we’ll be restored Have you forsaken us forever? And all our prayers lie fallen before your throne never heard You never listen to what we say anymore

about

Might be my favorite group of Mike Indest songs! Versatile, yet cohesive. Airy, rocking and head-bopping, yet emotionally, it's as dense as mud. *****(5-star)! Sean Severson (And How)

These songs were a stretch for me after a long writing dry spell. I knew I needed to do something different but was unsure throughout the writing process about where this was heading. Things started to look more certain during the recording process especially with how well these tunes were received by Eddie. Thank you Eddie for the encouragement!

Thanks to Eddie, Monty and Glen for playing along.

Each song is based on a chapter in from the book of Lamentations.

1:2 She weeps bitterly in the night, her tears on her cheek.
None of her lovers comfort her. All her friends lied to her;
they have become her enemies.

2:12 They say to their mothers, “Where are grain and wine?”
while fainting like the wounded in the city streets,
while their lives are draining away at their own mothers’ breasts.

3:7 He walled me in so I couldn't escape; he made my chains heavy.
8 Even though I call out and cry for help, he silences my prayer.
9 He walled in my paths with stonework; he made my routes crooked.

4:! Oh, no!
Gold is tarnished; even the purest gold is changed.
Sacred jewels are scattered on every street corner.

5: 21 Return us, Lord, to yourself. Please let us return! Give us new days, like those long ago—
22 unless you have completely rejected us,
or have become too angry with us.
